ROSCIGNO VECCHIA

Few villages in the world have a history as astonishing as that of Roscigno, village of 1100 inhabitants in the south of Italy, at 150 kilometers in the south of Naples. It is a place which was given up by its inhabitants at the beginning of the years 1900 because of movements of ground which weakened the dwellings. They rebuilt the village 1 kilometer from there, at a surer place. But the old village remains today still such as it was 1 century ago.
Roscigno vecchia (old) abandoned, but “repopulated” each day by the inhabitants of Roscigno current who come to store tools there, to place cattle there or quite simply to walk; what represents an exceptional documentation on the life of formerly. Moreover, a museum of rural civilization exposes all the instruments of the last country life.
